Shark tooth (lower lateral)

Absolute age: around 90 million years
Diagnosis: teeth with evenly serrated cutting edges. Thick crown and root. A thick lobe runs along the labial crown-root limit. Lateral teeth have highly distally inclined crowns. In upper laterals, the the cusp apex is commonly positionned more distally than the most distal root branch.
As stated by Glikman (1980), P. curvatus is a transitional form between Palaeoanacorax obliquus and Ptychocorax, a shark with normal anacoracid-like anterior teeth and crushing lateral teeth.
